The Disney College Program Is Back

The Disney College Program aka the back bone of Walt Disney World has finally returned. Young adults have decided to leave their homes, pay ridiculous rent and work extreme hours just to live out their dream to work at Disney. I was once this young adult, back in 2017 I did the college program during the fall and it was rough. During my DCP I got injured within my first 2 months and I was sent home which was had for me because I was living out my dreams and with in minutes it was crushed. Enough of my story and back to the DCP returning.

Last year many DCP kids got kicked out of housing due to COVID-19 and now they are back (they still had to pay the housing fee even though they were kicked out of housing) and living in a brand new apartment complex located at Flamingo Crossing right outside of Disney. The old DCP housing complexes were Vista Way, Patterson, The Commons and Chatham which we all located fairly close to Disney Springs. Those apartments have been turned in to non DCP housing and people have started moving in to these apartments, many of them being people who have done the college program in the past.

Many of us “Alumni” are jealous of the new housing complex for the college program but we all know they are paying more in rent that previous DCP groups because these are much nicer apartments. The apartment complex is managed and owned by American Campus Community, this company works with several colleges to provide housing for college students so it makes sense that Disney has partnered with them for the Disney College Program.

Get ready to see many “Earning My Ears’ tags on name tags when you visit the parks in the next two months because the college program is back and these Disney lovers are ready to make magic again. Something to remember, be nice and kind to these DCP kids because this round of college programmers are the ones who got their program cut short last year during the spring. Many of them were only here for a month to a month and a half so they are excited to be back and work for their favorite company.
