After a few days away from posting so much has happened! One of the biggest new stories that popped up in the past three days is that fireworks will be back at Walt Disney World on July 1st. The firework shows that are making a come back are Happily Ever After at Magic Kingdom and Epcot Forever at Epcot. I have shared in the past how much I miss the fireworks and how I would love to see them again because they bring me so much joy so this announcement was huge for me.
I feel that many people are excited for fireworks to come back but I also have seen that some people think this is too soon and that Disney should wait since we are still in an pandemic. The pandemic is slowly dying down at least here in Orange County Florida so I feel like that is why Disney has made the decision to bring back fireworks. We are extremely lucky because other countries are still struggling with COVID-19 numbers due to vaccines not being distributed as fast and efficient as the U.S. Many countries don’t have the same access to vaccines as we do which is sad and unfair because everyone should be able to have access to the vaccine if they would like to get it. According to the Orange County vaccine tracker 44% of people, which is 592,669 people, in Orange County have been vaccinated. The surrounding counties are anywhere between 35%-50% vaccinated which is why I think Disney made the decision to bring back fireworks because those numbers show that most people coming to the parks are vaccinated.
Fireworks at Disney create so many memories and magical moments for families, friends and couple. During my college program we would always make time to watch Happily Ever After and once it ended I would dance around the front of the castle to the music that plays after the show. I have vivid memories of the last time I watched Wishes, the first firework show I ever saw with my Fiancée was Happily Ever After and my mom and I bond over Illuminations because it was our favorite firework show to ever exist. I can’t wait to make memories again with these firework shows and I can’t wait to see Epcot Forever because I have still never seen it (I am a horrible Epcot fan I know). I am just so excited.
